Why Upgrade
Due to the changes of name badges at Reed & AGHA Trade Fairs, the Palm handhelds (see image on right) can no long be used to scan name badges for your new customers.
Both Reed and the AGHA have changed their name badges for retailers. To capture contact details, you must now scan a QR code which will then retrieve the contact details of that customer from the Internet.
The older Palm handhelds cannot scan a QR code and they can’t connect to the Internet. Therefore they can no longer be used to scan name badges for your new customers.
FairScan offers newer, more advanced handhelds that can scan QR barcodes and then connect to the Internet.
Upgrading to these newer handhelds will enable you to scan name badges easier than ever before (scan once directly on handheld) and to use a newer laptop than previously used.

Is this compulsory?
No. You can still use your Palm handhelds to scan orders and take new customers. The key difference is that when you need to take an order for a new customer, you have to manually enter the details into the handheld rather than scan the name badge.
For efficiency you can tap ‘New Cust’ and enter a business name, phone number and postcode to get the new customer order started. That will then create a new customer in your accounting system and you can then manually update the rest of their contact details.
The process for taking an order for an existing customer remains exactly the same as before; select the customer from the preloaded list on the handheld, and then scan their order.
Upgrading to newer handhelds isn’t compulsory, but it is highly, highly recommended.
Palm users have to manually enter details on this screen.
Name badges are unable to be scanned on handheld or on laptop
What is included?
Everything that you need to use the newer handhelds is included in this package.
Details of each item include:
2 x MC55 Handhelds – $1,400 ($700ea)
These handhelds are in used condition and come with a 12 month warranty. They have a colour screen, wireless capabilities and a barcode scanner that can scan QR barcodes.
Laptop – $300
This laptop is a used HP mini that has been formatted with a fresh copy of Windows 7 installed.
Charging Cradle – $150
Used to charge the handheld. Only 1 is needed but more can be purchased if required.
Wireless Router – $60
The handhelds can print orders and sync via Wifi. This router is used to create a Wifi network at the fair to enable the handhelds to do this.
Optus USB Modem – $60
Required to connect to the Internet to scan the new name badges. Also includes is the first 30 days of data to be used at the fair (Optus prepaid SIM Card will be supplied)
Adapter for old cradle – $30
To allow you to use your older Palm handhelds, an adapter will be provided that allows your old cradle to connect to a USB port of the laptop that we provide

This offer is for 2 used handhelds and a used laptop. Both are 100% working and come with a full 12 month warranty.

Can I buy some new handhelds and still use my old Palm handhelds?
Yes, but a specific laptop must be used
Can I buy more than 2 of the newer handhelds?
Yes. Additional handhelds can be purchased starting at $500ex per handheld
Are there any other software or hardware costs involved in upgrading?
No. This package includes everything you need to upgrade your handhelds & laptop along with all the cables and chargers that you need. You still need to supply your own printer.
You are required to be on an Annual FairScan Support plan (details will be emailed through shortly)
I have credit with FairScan, can that be used on this promo offer?
Yes. Anyone that paid for support in 2020 that was then credited, can use that credit (or any other credit) on this package
When does this promotion end?
30th June 2022. To receive this promotion package you must confirm your order prior to the end of June 2022. Full payment is then required by the end of July 2022.
I would like to pay for this upgrade over a period of months. Is the discount still available?
As long as full payment is made by the August fair, then the invoice can be paid off over split payments that have been set and agreed to with FairScan
Can I sell/trade in my old handhelds/laptop?
No. We have a large number of old Palm handhelds in our office that will most likely end up in recycling.
